Wincanton announces major extension of its contract with BAE Systems
Wincanton, the largest UK-based supply chain company, has extended its framework agreement with BAE Systems, a provider of defense, aerospace and security technology solutions by five years.
The contract extension builds on existing services provided by Wincanton for BAE Systems, incorporating supply chain solutions into its airline industry and UK shipbuilding operations, extending a 23-year relationship. Wincanton will continue to provide transportation, warehousing, materials management, packaging and inspection services to BAE Systems, supported by continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
During their relationship, Wincanton and BAE Systems worked in partnership to create technology solutions. Wincanton will continue to integrate its material movement tracking and tracing portal with BAE Systems purchasing systems, improving supply chain visibility.
Wincanton will also help BAE Systems meet its goal of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 through increased alignment of operations and services.
Carl Meewezen, Managing Director of Public and Industrial Sectors at Wincanton, said: “This is a major contract extension for Wincanton, and we look forward to building on our long-standing relationship. Our supply chain solutions enable BAE Systems to deliver critical capabilities to the UK Department of Defense and Government and we will continue to work closely with the customer in this important area.
John Champion, Director of Shared Services and Indirect Provisioning Services at BAE Systems, said: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Wincanton and jointly take steps to ensure that we take a holistic view of the entire our operations. This is a great collaboration between our two companies to align existing services under one agreement, thus creating a basis for continuous improvement and efficiency gains for the benefit of both parties. “
