UP publishes new excise policy to generate income for farmers
The government of Uttar Pradesh has released a new excise policy for the year 2022-2023 to help farmers generate more income from their products.
The move aims to create jobs and provide a market for agricultural products, in addition to attracting large-scale investors, Additional Chief Excise and Sugar Industry Secretary Sanjay told PTI on Saturday. Bhusa Reddy.
Under the new policy, the price of alcohol will not increase, but the license fee will be increased by 7.5%, he said.
He said the move would help provide quality alcoholic beverages to customers at reasonable prices.
Alcohol made in Uttar Pradesh will only be supplied in glass bottles instead of tetra packs, the official said.
He said tetra packs will be allowed if there is any difficulty in obtaining glass bottles.
The selling time of domestic alcoholic beverages, foreign alcoholic beverages, beer retail stores, model stores and high-end retail is maintained from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., as previously.
The official said that until now the state has been a buyer of alcohol and beer, but will now be developed as a production state.
He said the alcohol would be made from fruits grown in Uttar Pradesh, such as the Dussehri mango from Lucknow.
Apart from that, the wheat and barley used in the making of beer will be purchased within the state. The beer will be produced at three locations including Barabanki and Mirzapur.
An initiative has also been taken to make alcohol from paddy, corn and potatoes, he added.
