A main road in Hampshire has been blocked due to a vehicle fire.

Just after 5:20 p.m. on Monday November 1, it was reported that a vehicle had caught fire on the A27.

The incident blocked the westbound direction between the A2030 Eastern Road and the M27 (Portsbridge roundabout).

It has been reported that traffic is at a standstill approaching the highway.

Eastbound A27 traffic also slowed as the incident passed.

As the delays accumulated, traffic also lined up along the M27 and A3.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Services were on the scene.

A spokesperson said: “Cosham firefighters were called to the A27 westbound, near the Eastern Road roundabout and the M27 junction, at 5:09 p.m. for reports of a fire in car.

“Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was moved to the emergency lane and the incident was turned over to police.”
