Ogeechee Technical College’s OASIS Pantry provided over 30 families with meals for the holidays
The Ogeechee Technical College OASIS Food Pantry provided more than 30 student families with a Thanksgiving and vacation dinner this year.
In early November, Beckie Snyder, from AVPSA Administrative Support, appealed to the college to solicit donations to help prepare Thanksgiving meals for families in need.
“We had such an overwhelming response of donations from our faculty, staff and students that we were able to distribute over 30 meals to families for Thanksgiving,” Snyder said. “The need was so great that we ended up making a second appeal for donations and distributing more meals for the holidays,” she added.
Meals included a turkey and a collection of items including mashed potatoes, stuffing, rice, gravy, green beans, collard greens, yams, pickles, cakes and more again. The OASIS Pantry is still accepting donations and they can be delivered to Beckie Snyder in the Joseph E. Kennedy Building at Ogeechee Tech.
The OASIS (Outreach Assisting Students in Shortage) Pantry was opened in January 2020 to serve OTC students, faculty and staff who may have dietary needs.
Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees regularly participate in projects designed to support worthy causes in the community.
