Logistics UK announces Van Driver of the Year 2021 shortlist
Logistics UK has announced which are the UK’s top van drivers who have been shortlisted to take part in its Van Driver of the Contest, which will take place on Saturday July 10, 2021 at Bott Ltd in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The 12 finalists will take part in a series of challenging practical and theory tests, with the hope of being crowned Van Driver of the Year 2021 from Logistics UK.
Kevin Green, Marketing and Communications Director of Logistics UK, comments: “The role of a van driver is demanding; in addition to lifting potentially bulky goods, drivers must have a good knowledge of the legislation and be able to maneuver the vehicle in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. There has been an exceptionally high level of participants this year, with shortlisted showing exceptional levels of knowledge and skill.
“For many years Logistics UK has celebrated van drivers as the unsung heroes of the UK economy, and the coronavirus pandemic has proven it, more than ever before. This event is a fantastic opportunity to recognize the dedicated and highly accomplished pilots who have continued to supply the nation through this difficult time. “
Participants will perform a number of challenging tasks during the day and will be assessed on the ‘safe driving’ style, legislative knowledge, economical driving, maneuvering, risk perception and checking the vehicle for faults before use. . A presentation will be made at the end of the day to celebrate the Van Driver of the Year, as well as the second and third place competitors. The prices include a vacation voucher, a GoPro and Amazon vouchers.
The shortlist includes expert drivers from Wayfair, The British Shop, G4s Manchester, Alliance Healthcare, Alloga UK, SMS PLC, Vow Europe, Truline and Greencore.
