HGVC trains new truck drivers for Pets at Home
Heavyweight training specialist HGVC has been appointed by Pets at Home, the UK’s leading pet care company, to manage Pets at Home’s heavy vehicle licensing program and help train up to 30 new weight handlers heavy over the next 12 months.
Pets at Home, which provides pet owners with everything from food and toys to veterinary care, has identified the need to recruit and train more articulated truck drivers to meet the growing demand for their business area.
Pets at Home already has an established and successful Warehouse to Wheels program in place, providing career opportunities for many Pets at Home colleagues over the past five years. Now, HGVC will help extend those opportunities to even more colleagues, including providing accelerated training to obtain the C+E category, or articulated truck license.
Under the contract, HGVC is developing training summaries, analytics and live reporting to provide support and visibility to Pets at Home to help plan logistics around realistic license completion timelines.
James Clifford, CEO of HGVC, said:
“Over the past 30 years, Pets at Home has steadily grown to become the UK’s most popular pet care retailer. With more than 450 points of sale, it has extensive and sophisticated logistics. We are able to provide Pets at Home with efficient and hassle-free driver training so that the business can focus on its customers.
Paul Thomson, Driver Trainer Manager at Pets at Home, said:
“We are committed to providing our customers with the best service and growing the pet care business globally, and this extends to how our supplies are transported. That’s why it’s so important to us that our drivers understand why we work the way we do. HGVC provides a highly efficient licensing program that allows us to focus on getting qualified drivers behind the wheel and ensuring maximum inventory availability in our logistics operation.
