Federal Reserve Board invites public to comment on technical review notice regarding primary dealers operating in Spain

For broadcast at 4:30 p.m. EDT

The Federal Reserve Board on Wednesday invited the public to comment on a technical review opinion on primary dealers operating in Spain.

Concretely, a bank owned by a Spanish parent company intends to acquire a national primary dealer. A primary dealer is a stockbroker or other entity that has been approved as a trading counterparty with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As a result, the Federal Reserve is required by law to make a specific decision on the respective competitive opportunities in the Spanish and US government debt markets.

Comments must be received within 30 days of posting the notice in the Federal Register.
