Corfu Foods, Inc. recalls imported Swai (Ciluriformes) products without the benefit of import re-inspection

WASHINGTON, February 18, 2022 – Corfu Foods, Inc., a Bensenville, Illinois company, is recalling approximately 6,570 pounds of swai (Siluriformes) fish products imported from Vietnam that were not presented for re-inspection for importation into the United States , said the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. (FSIS) announced today.

Frozen swai fish fillets were imported on January 15, 2022. The following products are being recalled. See labels here.

  • 15 pounds. bulk packs in corrugated boxes containing different sizes of “PACIFIC DYNASTY SWAI FILLETS” and lot code VN 461 VI 354.

These items have been shipped to institutions, restaurants and retail outlets in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Consumers may have purchased the swai fillets in bulk or hand-packed from the fish counter at retailers.

The problem was discovered when a company notified FSIS that it had received and distributed an imported product without verifying that the product had been presented for import re-inspection by FSIS.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse effects due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in institutional, restaurant or consumer refrigerators or freezers. Restaurants and institutions are asked not to serve these products. Consumers who have purchased these products are asked not to consume them. These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness checks to ensure that recalling companies are notifying their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at
