Carrie SiuButt, CEO of SimpleHealth
When it comes to health and wellness, how does the work you do contribute to having a greater impact in the world?

At SimpleHealth, we are committed to providing patients with personalized care, beginning with reproductive health, which ultimately contributes to holistic health. We leverage our telemedicine platform to provide convenient access to comprehensive birth control options that can be tailored to each individual’s needs, including the pill, patch and ring, which are affordable and cost-effective for people with and without insurance.

With our recent acquisition of the award-winning EMME birth control and health tracking system, we have joined with another woman-led company in its mission to remove barriers to reproductive health care across a broad user base. covering the United States. SimpleHealth and EMME will integrate our product offerings and innovative technology to provide users with a premium healthcare experience throughout their reproductive cycle, all at their fingertips. Together, our hope is to eventually eradicate contraceptive deserts and better support preparation for fertility, perimenopause and other life transition phases through the accessibility of our platform.

Can you share your five “lifestyle tweaks” that you think will help support people’s journey to better well-being? Please give an example or story for each.

Work on a regular basis. It’s important to maintain a fitness routine and establish healthy habits to fuel your body and mind. There are many times when I am completely exhausted at the end of the day and struggle to find the motivation to train. Once I take the time, I always feel much better afterwards because exercise is a great way. to relieve stress.

Eat clean! What you put in your body will affect your daily life. Maintaining healthy eating habits helps fuel your body and keeps you going through those long, stressful days.

Take breaks throughout the day. This is especially important amid our heightened Zoom culture. Zoom fatigue and burnout are real. It’s essential to give yourself 15 minutes between calls to do something as simple as stretching.

Get a daily dose of vitamin D. It really makes a difference when you start taking vitamin D supplements or when you go out for a short walk when the sun is out. You will find that your mood changes immediately.

Sleep 8 hours a night. Try to set a healthy limit of closure and concentration on your evening rest. As most of us are still working from home, you can easily find yourself blurring the lines between your working hours and your rest times. Setting aside time for meaningful rest and sleep is the best way to recharge and avoid burnout.

What are your “5 things I wish someone had told me before I started” and why? (Please share a story or example for each.)

Protect your eyesight. Unfortunately, when others see your success, not everyone will feel happy for you. And, it’s not uncommon for them to try to “replicate” your vision for themselves. I remember now: Although they copy, I create. I wish I had known that sooner. Don’t take anyone lightly. Protect everything you create. I now have individuals who sign a terms and conditions agreement to protect SDC proprietary information when they join our team.
Pay attention to your sales channels. We create in-house designs with handcrafted products. I am from Mexico and unfortunately had to block all my channels from Mexico as well as China and Canada due to the large amount of counterfeit designs and products.
Business costs can be high and unpredictable! For example, shipping costs can be very high and fluctuate wildly. Sometimes our shipping costs are higher than our actual product! So we have learned to be more strategic about our cost structures across all product lines.
