Board of Directors Announces Call for Nominations for Elected Alumni Director

The Tuskegee University Board of Trustees is accepting applications for an elected past trustee position. The Alumni Trustee will serve a three-year term on the Board.
The purpose of the board is to provide oversight of the university through its president, as well as to help advance its engagement with students, parents, alumni, and philanthropic donors. As such, the Board’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, policy creation; define the mission and purpose; strategic planning; review programs; and connecting campus to community and community to campus.
The board consists of up to 25 voting members, including five directors appointed by the Governor of Alabama. Board-appointed directors serve a three-year term; state-appointed trustees for four years. In addition to the 25 voting trustees, there are several non-voting ex-officio members, including the university president, a faculty trustee who is the chair of the faculty senate, a student trustee elected by the body student and the Alabama State Superintendent of Education.
Applications will be accepted until April 18; the process includes an application-based nomination phase, review of applications by an ad hoc alumni director election committee, selection of finalists by the director’s board nominating and structure committee , and an online vote by the university’s alumni community.
