Paula Deen is Teaching Talking Head Video, But She Left Out A Whole Lot
This shows me the power the big time media sees in learning how to talk to a camera and use online video to promote, teach and communicate. For more from what Paula Deen is doing go to:
FYI – Paula has a million dollar HD Food Network Studio, I shot my video with a $179 camera and 2 Home Depot lights, ok… hers looks a little better, but not $999,500 better, what do you think?
I welcome your comments.
Hi Mike,
Loved those videos of Paula. Those tips, you can get them all over the web. But here’s what got me about them. Was her natural conversation through the camera.
Now I’m British and live in the UK… but still with that southern accent, I could still relate and I felt at ease with what she was sharing.
A head and shoulders video is definately a way to go. I’m popping over now to YouTube, to see what else this young lady is going to share.
Thanks for the heads up on this.

John,
What I loved was she is real and from near where I live and was passionate to talk to people. But I can see the concern with the big corporate investment was they want the public to send them cooking videos, and they made the decision to do it, advertise it worldwide on the #3 website in the world, YouTube, but they knew they had to get people over the fear of talking to the camera or they would not get submissions.
So what I got was, big media television knows the viewers like real on the internet.
And they must educate viewers to take action and overcome fear of making video.
The exact same thing I have been trying to do since 1996, now it is common place online and will be more every year.
My take on it. More folks have comments?
Mike,
You’re so right about this. I think I’ve bought every product and program you have over the years, and it’s been the best investment I’ve ever made. You’re always ahead of the curve, Mike. Thanks for helping me grow our business through audio/video blogging and technology. You’re the best!
Mike, Thank you so much for pointing this out to me this morning. I’ve been seeing Paula all over YouTube for the past 2 days and wondered what the campaign was all about but didn’t take time to click through. I look forward to viewing her tips and taking action on them into 2010.
Mike, I do want to thank you and Jim for the webinars on Talking Head video production. In my opinion, you and Jim are genius’ for coming out with that set of webinars at the same time The Video Boss, Crush It (Gary Vaynerchuk) and Trust Agents (Chris Brogan) were also making their debuts. You’ve all inspired me for my own talking head videos. In fact, since the webinars,I’ve created exactly 35 of these videos for local real estate, plus 4 for testimonials. I’m trying my best not to “write” another blog post in 2010, but to turn most of my blogs into video blogs….with a little bit of text content for google indexing.
You know, it’s just like Mike Litman and Matt Bacak say, “You Don’t Have To Get It Right, You Just Have To Get It Going!” and I’ve found that to be so true. My videos aren’t perfect, but I’m getting better each time I try.
Also, have you seen the Jorge Cruise (the weight loss guru) YouTube talking head videos he’s doing now. He’s going full steam ahead into internet video and loosening his ties to the national media. It’s as if he were watching and taking advice from you and Jim.
I am sorry, I wasn’t able to buy your Kodak Zi8 Package, but I was able to buy 1 Zi8 with 1 AT Pro 24 mic to finish my Appraiser Video Marketing course and to begin creating these local talking head videos. I’m receiving many positive comments on the videos and building relationships with several local Realtors in the process because they can now see me on video!
Mike, thank you for all that you do for us out here. We sincerely appreciate you and Jim!!!

Paula, What a fabulous video of you sharing with us about shooting videos. Thank you from my heart for all the good ideas. You look so relaxed and natural on video. I hope I might look the same.
Thanks a bunch,
Mary
I like to visit your blog a couple times a week for new readings. I was wondering if you have any other subjects you write about? You’re a very talented writer!
Hi Mike.
What a great idea to use Paula Deans clip as an intro to your course!
I recently had the privilege of listening to your webinar with Kimberly Bohannon of http://gfydmember.com. I was the person who ask if a newbie just starting out should attend the Word Camp San Francisco 2010? Your immediate enthusiasm and friendly, “why not? for $50.00 you get to hear the creator of WP, Matt S.,get lunch and a free t-shirt, what can be greater than that?’
What can be as exciting? Meeting You and Jim Edwards! I just got a Kodak Zi8 for my birthday,(4/29) and wish to meet you both! I will be wearing a a fellow GFYD t-shirt it’s black and boldly states: FollowYourOwnDream. See U there!
Video Marketing is an interesting and very effective way to market affiliate products, i have promoted my products over youtube and in some other sites,;*
