I think if I did a double optin from a face to face meeting and permission from an individual at a networking meeting or event would just not work. Write down on back of card time and something to remember about when they said verbally ok and chances are, they even if they gave you a spam complaint, you have proof they agreed, the back up of the meeting organization and the fact they could opt out instantly at anytime, plus you have proof you were there, a reminder where you met, and plenty of proof. The point here is have videos to be a reminder of who you are and what you do withing seconds after meeting someone so they remember you. If they get upset over that in business, they need to go to work for someone, as they are truly not in business themselves. But someone will complain no matter what. I am not a lawyer, but meetings IE in their bylaws, say if you give a business card to another member at the meeting, they are encouraged to contact by email, mail or phone call. I am just suggesting automation to do that combined with the power of pre-recorded video to wow a prospect. Double optin would kill that wow factor and if you autoresponder allows you to do single optin, it works.. It has already for me. I am not suggesting spam, I suggesting following up with an interested prospect fast from a computer or mobile device the minute you meet them. Nice to know Aweber will work, I just use http://www.getautoresponseplus.com and http://www.powersystemcart.com (my 1shoppingcart) works as well too.

No matter what, market fast and smart in these days.

Peter, Mark and Karl, I use Aweber and just found out that you can have a single opt-in with Aweber too.

What you need to do is as follows:
1. Create a new list or select the list you want to apply this to
2. Select "My Lists" and select "Confirmed Opt-in" from the drop down menu.
3. On the left is a Large Green Square with the words "Status On". Just click on that and it will change to a Red Square with the words "Status Off".

Voila, you have your single opt-in method set up.

I've tried this and it allowed my subscriber list to be built. I learnt this just 5 days ago!

I had the same question about double opt-ins. I guess that you will get them into your regular shopping cart list if they buy, or if they sign up for something else like a free report. How likely do you think it is that they'd sign up a second time, based on your experience so far?

You could use any autoresponder you like. Aweber requires double optin and I understand that is best. But at networking meetings, like http://www.Business400.com it is understood that people follow up by email when you give you business card. That is your optin permission. They teach and encourage you to email follow up everyone that gives you a card. The act of giving a card is permission to contact and accept in these meetings. And I verify by telling people when I get the card I am emailing them. To do a double optin would not be as effective as people at networking meetings would not understand to respond. So, I am using http://www.getautoresponseplus.com as I can setup a list that does not require a double optin.

Hope that helps.. Mike

Mike, did you use a double opt-in for the people at the network meeting. I use Aweber and they require a double opt-in, so I was just curious how you handled that step....or whether you were able to by-pass it.
