Congratulations, Herbie Hancock, Album of the Year At The Grammys

I have to post this as I was blessed enough to meet and make the acquaintance of jazz legend Herbie Hancock at the NAMM convention this past January in LA! We had a great meeting and I secured him the domain name Herbie Hancock Podcast. com, which he will be making live in the months to come. I got to meet Herbie because of my connections that have resulted from this blog, one of the many reasons to blog, podcast and video blog. My good friend Khaliq Glover, set up the meeting.

I spent over 2 hours showing Herbie the power of blogging, podcasting, and video blogging and made the commitment to be his blogging mentor with Khaliq. Because I had my Flip Digital Camcorder in my pocket, I was able to record the testimonial below from this legend in his hotel room in a matter of seconds.  If a Grammy winning legend wants to learn video blogging from me, it is a wise decision for you? Just a thought..

Check out this killer testimonial I got after that meeting with Herbie Hancock and we he had to say about www.AudioVideoInWordpress.com from Mike Stewart.

Lessons to take away.
1. Learn to blog with audio and video
2. Blog about issues big in the news
3. Always carry a portable microphone or portable camcorder like the Flip Digital,
cause you never who you might meet that could give you a testimonial or content for your blog.

To your success! Mike

  • Mike,

I posted about this at the Friday Traffic Report. Unbelievable man!

  • D W:

    WOW!
I don’t know who’s the luckier out of that meeting!

Herbie’s great and his performance at the awards and his accomplishments over time speaks for itself.

Mike Stewarts name may not be as well known but I must say that … “he’s the man” when it comes to audio and video and although I don’t have his NEWEST product, AudioVideoInWordpress.com I did learn the ropes through him and one of his partners several years ago. BEFORE U-TUBE AND many other social networking sites! What he says is THE WORD and have no doubt that he will deliver with his new product, I’ll just bet on that one!

    Best regards,

  • Mike,
Great stuff! I am ready to flip the ebook writing world upside down with my new Flip Camcorder. Tell Herbie we would love to have him perform at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, just north of Los Angeles. His people should contact my people.

  • I am so jealous! :) I have been a Herbie Hancock fan for many years and was so happy to see him win a Grammy – and for music about another of my favorites – Joni Mitchell.

What an honor for you to have met him. Wow!

  • Nice one Mike!

Herbie was one of my boyhood heroes back in the day. As well as all of his jazz stuff, he made some great body popping tracks too :-)

    Really showing my age now.

    Peace

    Stewart

  • Mike,

When we met at Matt Bacak’s office 3 years ago you said that you had big plans for the future…WOW!! Congrats!

If you or Herbie Hancock ever want to collaborate with a honeyed baritone Pop/R&B singer/songwriter, make sure you give me a call!

  • Hey Mike,

what a mind blow! Imagine getting the ol’ Herbie himself to sing your praises. You’re a genius. HH is a technology freak and has always been at the forefront of all this stuff. It doesn’t surprise me for an instant he’d climb on board.
This sort of testimonial gives you oodles of credibility.

  • Mike,

There’s a rumor you are also a Grammy winner in like the 80′s. I linked to my post here so you could come set the record straight.

If it’s true, then us common folk aren’t allowed to talk to you OR Herbie!

  • Congratulations Mike on your interview with Herbie Hancock.
When I listened to you at the Authority Summit, I knew you were big and someone to whom I should pay attention. See, I was right.
My next task is to get my very own Flip. Good job.

P.S. You really should have a presence on Jack’s new venture, the Social Marketing Central community.

  • “Gotta keep the vibe alive!”

    “Vibe alive, vibe alive . . .”

Herbie on Perfect Machine, Track 3 (you guess’d it) “Vibe Alive” 1988

Speaking of Herbie always being cutting-edge in tech stuff, and showing one’s age.

Boy was I lucky to open Jack’s Friday Traffic Report newsletter today. I too was happy to see Herbie get the Grammy. But I was led to your site as well, Mike, and this is a very valuable find for me at this point with my own online endeavors.

Cheers, man, and congrats on your new working relationship with such a cool new friend to have.

  • Wowowowowowoweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Herbie Hancock – he was one of my Top 6 tunes of all time just recently when I was asked to do my “Desert Island Discs” show on the BBC!

If you love soul music, here’s the link to the podcasted version of the show – Herbie is 2nd tune up I think!

And I just added “I thought it was you” to my Favourites video channel at YouTube as it still so much stands the test of time…brings a tear every time I listen to it and brings back the “long hot soulful summer” of 1977 (yes we do have them sometimes in the UK!) listening to Robbie Vincent on his Saturday afternoon and sadly short-lived show on Radio 1.

That must have been so much fun to meet him and please tell Herbie he’s got his first subscriber to his podcast!

Mike Stewart – leading the way in COOL as ever.

    LOL

  • Hey, Mike:

I’m one of your AudioVideoInWordpress students, as well as student with Alex Mandossian, Paul Colligan, Ken McCarthy, Matt Bacak, David Frey, Rich Schefren, Stu McLaren, and many others.

I’m also a fellow musician-composer-producer, and missed out on your record/CD promotion last year. Is it still available?

Congratulations on the Herbie Connection! I’m looking forward to that new Herbie Hancock Video Blog!

I recently partnered with my jazz teacher, Kenny Werner, to start producing Kenny’s blog, at: http://www.KennyWernerLive.com.

I’ll be on the lookout for your site with Herbie, to model!

Thanks so much for your inspiration as a fellow marketer and musician!

    Thanks a lot.

    Dr. Andrew Colyer
